its april 4th which means less then a month until my first half marathon. last week i was sick with broncitis and a sinus infection so was unable to run for a few days. today it was rainy and i was not in the mood to run, but i knew i had too.. with so little time to go i need to follow through with my training.
the weather was gross it had just finished raining and was very windy but i completeled a seven mile run in a little over an hour. i was almost hit by a car, which made me very thankful that i have recently purchased a roadID, and i think that ever runner and bicyclest should purchase one because accidents do happen.
tomorrow will be a short run, followed by my longer run on wednesday.

it feels so good to be back again..
home finally..back to the cold, more realistic weather. today is saturday, and saturdays in training world means long runs. i don't know why they choose saturdays but i was not really looking forward to it this morning.
i woke up at about 8:00am and it was a chilly 47 degrees, i mean i guess thats not that cold for new england. i looked at my training schedule and it said that today would be an hour and a half run. i ran down my street and headed into rehoboth the next town over and further into tauton the town next to that. i glanced at my watch and saw that i was nearing the 40 minute mark so i decided to turn, figuring i would tire out and needed to make up the extra time toward the end of my run. boy was i wrong. as i neared my house i glanced at my watch and saw that i had run for an hour and twenty five minutes, five minutes short of my perscribed time.
i realized today that the adreniline kicks in and you get a second wind after the hour mark, and also the pizza (carbs!!) from last night probably gave me an extra energy boost.
i learned two things from todays run:
1. run the full time.. your challenging your body!
2. carb load the night before long runs.. you'll really need and use the energy the next day!!
oh by the way.. tracked my run 9.23 miles!!!!!! the furthest i've ever ran in my entire life :)

beach break..
just came inside from laying out on the beach all morning.. after my run of course!
I went for an hour run along ormand beach this morning around 8:30am. The tempature was around 55 degrees with a slight breeze. it was an amazing run. the beach is so quiet in the morning, there are seagulls everywhere and couples walking, people fishing, even a few folks doing yoga.
i am truly going to miss these runs next week, but i am excited to head back to new england to train in the conditions that are more realistic for race day.
my thoughts this morning ran crazy, i thought about how much i have over come personally. i started running senior year in high school and since then i have lost around 55 pounds. i also thought about how im running this half marathon for me and just me. sometimes when i tell people that im stressed that i am not going to be able to finish the race they say ill do fine. however i dont think they take into reality how far 13.1 miles actually is. this is going to be a huge accomplishment for me and probably my proudest moment in my life, because it is a goal i have achieved completely on my own and i had to push myself.
also came up with my race day goal: 02:15:00. if i dont beat the clock, onto half marathon number two!
back to the beach!

the not so beginning..
so today is the beginning.. of my blogging that is, not so much my running. i have been running for quite some time now but thought it would be interesting to blog about my experiences. i came up with this idea yesterday when i was running along ormand beach in the morning. i am on spring break and in the middle of training for my first half marathon.
running clears my mind. the first thing that came to mind yesterday was how beautiful it was on the beach, the sound of the waves crashing and the palm trees blowing in the wind, how wonderfu would it be to live here year round! it was so nice to see older couples out walking on the beach and kids playing in the sand.
as i ran by the numerous hotels and condos i thought about how cool it was that i am more then 300 miles from home, but i am still doing what i love. running is that simplistic, all you need is a pair of shoes (and an ankle brace in my case!) and you can run anywhere in the world, its truly amazing.
just last week back at school i was running al bundled up and now im running in the beautiful floridian sun.
with that said i am using my blog to record my training. towards the end of last year i decided that i wanted to run a half marathon. with that said i chose the Cox Half-Marathon in Providence, RI. It will take place on May 1, 2011. as part of my training i have decided to create this blog, to share with everyone my training and advice. i also believe it will be interesting to look back at my progress and see how much i have accomplished.
